Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals
Lancaster General Hospital is named to the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals list for 2017. The annual study incorporates independent public data, risk-adjusted and peer-reviewed methodology, and key performance metrics to arrive at an objective analysis of the best hospitals in the nation. This is the 11th time Lancaster General Hospital has appeared on the list since 1997.
Healthgrades America’s Top 50 Best Hospitals
Lancaster General Hospital is named to Healthgrades’ America’s 50 Best Hospitals list for 2017. Hospitals on the Healthgrades list demonstrate superior clinical outcomes across the majority of common inpatient conditions and procedures, and sustain this performance for at least three consecutive years. Lancaster General Hospital is the only Pennsylvania hospital listed in the top 50.
U.S. News & World Report
U. S. News & World Report ranked Lancaster General Hospital nationally as one of the best hospitals for 2016-17 in two specialties -- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, and Pulmonology -- and fifth overall in the state of Pennsylvania. LGH earned “high performing” rankings in five specialties: Diabetes & Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics.
Magnet Recognized Hospital for nursing excellence
Lancaster General Hospital attained four-year Magnet® recognition for the fourth time in 2016, as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. This voluntary credentialing program for hospitals recognizes excellence in nursing and is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice.
The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score “B”
Lancaster General Hospital received a Hospital Safety Score of “B” from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit hospital safety watchdog. The Hospital Safety Score, which combines 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data, is considered the gold standard rating for patient safety.
Joint Commission certification
Certification from the independent, nonprofit Joint Commission is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. Lancaster General Hospital received certification in hip and knee replacement, and hip fracture, and advanced certification in primary stroke center and ventricular assist device.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration VPP Star
Lancaster General Hospital is recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with VPP (Voluntary Protection Programs) Star Status. This prestigious honor includes LGH and facilities and services associated with its license, including BURLE, Women & Babies Hospital and 14 outpatient centers, including the Downtown and Suburban pavilions. VPP recognizes organizations and employees for implementing effective safety and health management systems and maintaining injury and illness rates below national averages.
HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Award for Electronic Medical Records Use
Lancaster General Hospital attained the acute care Stage 7 award for an advanced patient record environment from Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Analytics. Stage 7 is the highest level on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model℠ (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. Stage 7 hospitals operate in a paperless environment and represent best practices in implementing EMR.
Independence Blue Cross Blue Distinction Specialty Care
Lancaster General Hospital is recognized by Independence Blue Cross as a Blue Distinction Center for proven expertise, high quality care and patient results in these specialties: cardiac care, maternity care, hip replacement, knee replacement and bariatric surgery.
Security Magazine listed Lancaster General Health among the top 500 security departments in the country and 28th in the health-care sector for its best-managed security practices.
