A Leader in Strategy Development

We have been assessing and implementing strategies to address community health needs for more than a decade. In 1998, we initiated an organized process that is grounded in four key principles.

  • Community collaboratives and partnerships
  • Data-driven needs assessment
  • Systematic approach to addressing the needs
  • Continual measurement and evaluation

To further enhance the importance of community health improvement, we established a community-based Mission and Community Benefit Committee of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Board of Trustees. The charter of this committee is to assist our trustees in fulfilling oversight responsibility related to the health system’s mission and community benefit activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, taking necessary actions to increase access to health and wellness services for all members of the community, irrespective of their ability to pay.

We collaborated with Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital to conduct the latest Community Health Needs Assessment.
