Preceptor Program

A preceptor is provided for each new Nursing staff member during their orientation period. The Preceptor works side by side with the new staff member to help them learn the details of the unit and of their position. Preceptors are chosen by the Nurse Manager based on experience, skill, and their willingness and ability to teach. During orientation, the preceptor’s focus is the growth of the new staff member, as well as the provision of excellent patient care. They interact with the Clinical Educator and Nurse Manger to gauge progress of the new employee, and address any orientation needs.
