LG Health Physicians Neuropsychology’s outpatient office is located within the NeuroCenter on the second floor of the Suburban Pavilion. The interns will be involved with a variety of services through this center including:

  • Neuropsychological/psychological Assessment - Much of our work involves assessment and interns therefore will be trained to administer and interpret a variety of neuropsychological tests and to effectively impart their findings to patients, family members and other health care workers.  Interns will learn to identify and interpret appropriate diagnostic techniques for each patient that include the clinical interview as well as psychometric testing (personality and neuropsychological).

  • The Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Program (AMC) - Interns will have the opportunity to assess and treat patients suspected of having a variety of dementing conditions. The AMC allows interns to work as part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of neuropsychologists, neurologists, geriatricians, nurses, and social workers.

  • Concussion Screening Evaluations - A comprehensive concussion program was established in 2009, with special focus on student athletes, providing pre-play and post-concussion neuropsychological evaluation to offer guidance on return to play and academics to minimize protracted recovery and morbidity following concussive injuries.

  • The Neuro Day Treatment Program -  A multidisciplinary (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Neuropsychology) post-acute rehabilitation day program for individuals with a variety of neurological disorders including TBI, stroke, tumor and demyelinating disease, interns provide assessment services in addition to individual and group therapy.

  • The Central PA Pain Center - The psychologists participate with the pain center in providing evaluation and treatment services to ambulatory patients with a variety of chronic pain disorders such as fibromyalgia.  Psychological evaluations for patients being considered for implantation of spinal cord stimulators or morphine pumps is a common reason for referral.

  • Bariatric Surgery Evaluations – The service provides psychological evaluations for individuals under consideration for bariatric surgery.  We also work in concert with the surgical team, offering brief intervention of a psychoeducational nature to selected patients, to enhance potential for quality outcomes.

  • Short-term Individual Psychotherapy and Biofeedback- Our practice accepts referrals to treat patients with depression, anxiety and other psychological disorders using primarily cognitive-behavioral approaches. We also accept referrals to treat patients with chronic pain, headaches, and anxiety utilizing biofeedback. Patients requiring long-term psychotherapy are usually referred to other service providers in the community.
