Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY-1) Residency Program

Professional Development

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital’s PGY-1 pharmacy residency program offers numerous opportunities for professional development. Upon arrival, each resident will have the opportunity to select multidisciplinary organizational committees to serve on throughout the duration of the year. Each resident will have multiple opportunities to give presentations to pharmacy colleagues and medical staff including a Pharmacotherapy Grand Rounds at LGH and a Morning Report presentation to the Family Community Medicine attending physicians and residents. In addition, residents will frequently present at the Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Formulary committee meetings. The resident may also have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students and learn how to give constructive feedback.  Throughout the year, residents will work on a research project and medication use evaluation. The resident has the option to present either their medication use evaluation or research project at ASHP midyear meeting. The research project will be presented at both Eastern States Conference and Lancaster General Annual Health Sciences Poster Session.  On completion of the PGY-1 pharmacy residency program, residents will have a research project of quality suitable for publication.
