Special symposia in May (Pre-registration required)

5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, Hospice & Community Care: Gen Silent, a documentary film about LGBT aging, will be shown, followed by a discussion with Stu Maddux, the film’s producer/director. This documentary sheds light on the unique issues facing LGBT elders and allows professionals, activists, older people and young to better realize that we each need care with understanding and compassion. The documentary shows how older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults have been forced to hide their sexual orientation in order to receive appropriate care. Dinner at 5:30 p.m.; event begins promptly at 6 p.m. Location: Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive. Since space is limited, registration is restricted to physicians, NPs and PAs on a first-come, first-served basis. Noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, virtual event: Palliative Care 2017: Palliative Care vs. Hospice is the title of this webinar featuring Kristina Newport, M.D., FAAHPM, Director of Outpatient Palliative Care, Palliative Medicine Consultants. You must register here for the webinar. Once you register, you will be given the link to register for the CME portion. This event is jointly provided with the American Cancer Society and Lancaster General Health.

7 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, Stager Conference Center:  Family Medicine Grand Rounds topic is the Provision of Care to the Transgender Patient, led by Penn’s Allison Myers, M.D., MPH, Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Community Health.
 
7 to 8 a.m. Thursday, May 18, Stager Conference Center: Pediatric Grand Rounds topic is Pediatric Anxiety and Depression, with Dr. Marco Grados from Johns Hopkins as speaker.
