Mandatory child abuse, opioid trainings coming in October and November

Special symposia (Pre-registration required)

Tuesday, Oct. 24, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Stager Conference Center: Opioid Act 124 Training event’s content has been designed to meet Pennsylvania state law requirements of Act 124, which mandates two hours of training prior to providers’ next re-licensure. Re-licensure varies by provider type. For example, DOs are due Oct. 31, 2018, MDs are due Dec. 31, 2018, etc. This CME event is restricted to Medical & Dental Staff members due to space limitations. Register early, as it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you can’t make the live event or space fills up, the event will be recorded and made available online. Those wishing to attend the live event must register online. Dinner, 5:30 to 6 p.m.; training, 6 to 8:30 p.m. If you have questions about the content, please contact Tara Tawil, M.D., course director and moderator, ttawil2@lghealth.org.  
 
5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, Stager Conference Center: Mandated Training for Act 31 Child Abuse: Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect – Recognizing & Responding to Children at Risk. This event will satisfy the state’s two-hour Act 31 mandated reporter training required prior to your next licensure cycle. The event is not recorded and must be attended live.  Only members of the LGH Medical & Dental Staff may register and attend this conference. Space is limited, so register early, as it is on a first-come, first-served basis. You will need your medical license number and last four digits of SSN to register. Dinner, 5:30 to 6 p.m.; program, 6 to 8 p.m. Register here.
 
Grand Rounds and recurring events in October (Pre-registration not required)
 
7 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, Stager Conference Center: Family Medicine Grand Rounds will feature Amy Clouse, M.D., Associate Director, Family Medicine Residency Program, Abington/Jefferson Health, whose topic is Contraception in 2017.
 
7 to 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, Stager Conference Center: Pediatric Grand Rounds features Pia Fenimore, M.D., Lancaster Pediatric Associates, who will speak on Cases from Peer Review.
