5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, ABBCI Seraph Conference Room: Breast Cancer: Less is More discusses conservative diagnosis and treatment options for breast cancer. The event features Nitin Tanna, M.D., Lancaster Radiology Associates (Radiology Updates); Michelle Shen, M.D., The Surgical Group of LG Health (Surgical Perspective); Kenneth Blank, M.D., Medical Director, LGHP Radiation Oncology (Reducing Radiation Treatment Burden); Ami Jhaveri, M.D., LGHP Hematology and Medical Oncology (When can we comfortably advise our patients against chemotherapy); and Linda Jacobs, Ph.D., CRNP, Penn Medicine (Survivorship and Recovery from Breast Cancer Therapy). Dinner, 5:30 to 6 p.m.; talks start immediately after dinner. Registration is required here. 
 
5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, or Thursday, Nov. 2, Stager Conference Center: Mandated Training for Act 31 Child Abuse: Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect – Recognizing & Responding to Children at Risk. Pick the date that best suits your schedule. This event will satisfy the state’s two-hour Act 31 mandated reporter training required prior to your next licensure cycle. The event is not recorded and must be attended live.  Only members of the LGH Medical & Dental Staff may register and attend this conference. Space is limited, so register early, as it is on a first-come, first-served basis. (Note: If this event fills up or the dates don’t suit, you will be able to take one of the classes we will hold in 2018.) You will need your medical license number and last four digits of your SSN to register. Dinner, 5:30 to 6 p.m.; program, 6 to 8 p.m. Register for either program here.

7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, Stager Conference Center: Social Media and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device): What are the Risks? Attorney Daniel Shay of Alice G. Gosfield and Associates PC will speak on the topic as part of the Medical & Dental Staff meeting. Dinner, 6 to 6:30 p.m.; Medical & Dental Staff business, 6:30 to 7 p.m.; CME, 7 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration not required.
 
Grand Rounds and recurring events in September and October (Pre-registration not required)

7 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept., 19, Stager Conference Center: Family Medicine Grand Rounds will examine Fetal Growth Restriction: Diagnosis and Management. Speakers are Philip Bayliss, M.D., and Brianna Moyer, M.D.

7 to 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, Stager Conference Center: Pediatric Grand Rounds features James Carson, M.D., of Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, speaking on Scoliosis and Back Pain.
 
Noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 3 and 4, WBH Nursery 2: OB Provider Skill Simulations are one-hour rotating sessions with Robert Faizon, M.D. (Shoulder Dystocia Maneuvers Simulation station, 20 minutes), Vivian Haughton (Bakri Balloon Use, Indications and Management Simulation station, 20 minutes) and Christine Hansson (Postpartum Hemorrhage Management, 20 minutes). Pick the one-hour time slot most convenient for your schedule. These sessions will occur again noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 6.
 
Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, Stager Conference Center: Save the date for Geno Merli, M.D., from Thomas Jefferson, who will speak on Oral Anticoagulants for Department of Medicine Grand Rounds.
 
7 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, Stager Conference Center: Family Medicine Grand Rounds’ topic will be Contraception in 2017. Speaker is Amy Clouse, M.D., from Thomas Jefferson Abington.
 
7 to 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, Stager Conference Center: Pediatric Grand Rounds features Pia Fenimore, M.D., Lancaster Pediatric Associates, who will speak on Cases from Peer Review.
