Access to personal email accounts restricted on work computers
2/3/2017

From Andrea B. Thomas-Lloyd, MBA, CISSP, CHPS, Director, Information Protection & Assurance

Effective Feb. 15, access to personal email accounts will no longer be available on LG Health work computers, that is computers used for patient care and administrative operations.

Personal email websites significantly increase LG Health’s exposure to malicious webmail activity. To protect LG Health’s data and information, websites that are used for personal email, including Gmail, Yahoo, Comcast, etc., will not be accessible on LG Health computers. News sites will continue to be available.

Physicians and other providers who need to access their personal email while at LG Health locations should use a personal device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) or one of the dedicated personal use computers.

Personal use computers are available at the following LG Health locations:

  • Lancaster General Hospital: Cafeteria (ground floor) and Employee Service Center (first floor)

  • Women & Babies Hospital: NICU Family Room

  • Suburban Pavilion: Wellness Center

  • BURLE Business Park: First-floor break room

Any requests for exceptions will be reviewed individually by submitting a request through the Help Desk at 717-544-HELP.
