Richard “Rich” A. Moraga, Ph.D

Richard “Rich” A. Moraga, Ph.D., died Dec. 23 at age 64. Dr. Moraga, of Lititz, practiced at the former Neuropsychology Specialists (now LG Health Physicians Neuropsychology) from 1999 to 2010.

Fellow neuropsychologist Jon E. Bentz, Ph.D., remembers Dr. Moraga as well-liked by his colleagues. In addition to his neuropsychology work, Dr. Moraga devoted a significant amount of his clinical time to behavioral treatment of patients with chronic pain disorders.

He also taught psychology courses at what is now the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. While working on his doctorate at Penn State, he won an award for his research on “EEG Correlates of Psychological Dissociation: Modeling Awareness States” and subsequently co-authored a chapter, “Psychophysiological Assessment of Dissociative Disorders,” in the Handbook of Dissociative Disorders.

Dr. Moraga practiced until 2010, when he was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s disease. A married father of two, he is also remembered for his goofy sense of humor; kind, loving and gentle spirit; and lifelong passion for music, especially guitar.
