The Health Services Library is here to help you
3/3/2017

The Health Sciences Library that serves the Lancaster General Health system is refining its services to patrons. As part of this process, librarians are going “on the road” to visit practices and medical groups to demonstrate our resources and explain our services.

The library and its librarians provide the following resources and services for you:

  • Telephone and email reference assistance on weekdays

  • A physical location inside the James Street Lobby at Lancaster General Hospital houses print books, print journals and computers. Librarians also are available here during posted hours and by appointment.

  • Electronic access to e-books and electronic journals through various databases

  • Access to a network of libraries that allows us to borrow materials we do not own. This is known as our interlibrary loan service.

  • We can help you with your research from start to finish. We can assist with narrowing your topic and forming a PICOT question; brainstorming keywords and search strategies; searching databases; and citing your resources.

  • Database training for individuals and groups

To learn more about the library, visit our website, which is accessible through StarNet or by clicking here. This guide provides an overview of how librarians can help physicians, including a video overview of the library home page.

Please take a look at our website to see what the library offers and consider allowing one of our librarians to visit your practice. Contact us to customize a librarian visit to meet your needs. If you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule a session, please contact Christina Steffy, manager of library support services, or Amy Snyder, education librarian.
