New sepsis protocol shows reduced mortality rates in LG Health pilot
A new protocol for patients with severe sepsis and septic shock (SS/SS) reduced patients' mortality rate to 12.9%, in a FY2011 LG Health pilot study. That compared favorably to a 28.1% mortality rate in the control group. Read More

Assessment and order set for delirium
You may be surprised to learn the prevalence of delirium in hospitalized patients, occurring in 20% of hospitalized patients age 65 and older. The incidence is even higher after a surgery and highest after hip fracture surgery, occurring in 35-65% of patients. Read More

Medical Dental Staff Restructuring
In 2007, President of the Lancaster General Health Medical and Dental Staff, Dr. Deborah Riley, in consort with a team of physician leaders, hospital leaders and consultants, began the long and arduous process of restructuring the Medical and Dental Staff to include paid Department Chairs and Division Chiefs. Cancer center groundbreaking
On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Lancaster General Health (LG Health) officially broke ground for the new two-story, 70,000 square foot Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, to be located at the current entrance to the Radiation Oncology Department at LG Heath's Suburban Outpatient Pavilion, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. Read More
