Counseling Services

Integrated counseling services

Our licensed clinical counselors are located in a growing list of Lancaster General Health family medicine practices as well as the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, Women's Specialty Center, and Roseville Pediatrics.

We work with all ages, right in the same office you see the medical staff. We work closely with your medical team to make sure you are receiving the best care.

We work with you to address a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse (including nicotine), relationship issues, loss, spiritual concerns, post-traumatic stress (PTSD) disorder, and stress management. Our goal is to help you lower your stress, shift towards healthy behaviors and habits, and work through emotional concerns. We can refer to specialty mental health or substance use providers, if needed.

What can I expect in a counseling session?

Counseling sessions are tailored to your needs. You and your counselor will use a range of techniques and tools best matched to you.

The first session typically lasts 45-60 minutes during which time the counselor gains an understanding of your needs and begins to develop a plan of action. Additional sessions are typically 20-30 minutes long as you and your counselor work together on your goals. Counseling sessions can be short term, ranging from one to three sessions, or extend over several weeks or months.

How to make an appointment and costs

Ask for an appointment during your medical provider visit.  Or you can call 717-735-7454 to schedule an appointment.

Psychiatry and Counseling Services are billed to your insurance company under your behavioral health coverage. Your cost depends on your coverage. You may be responsible for a co-pay which is typically the same amount as your co-pay for other specialty services. Some insurance plans do not have co-pays for counseling and psychiatric services. Some major medical plans may not have behavioral health coverage.

Our team will verify your coverage and explain any costs before your first appointment. We are committed to working with you to develop a way to access services, which may include a referral to a financial counselor.
