New Specialty Practice Enhances Pediatric Care for Lancaster County
Lancaster General Health has a long-standing commitment to children’s care in the community. Now, with the opening of Lancaster General Health Pediatric Specialists, LG Health has broadened its ability to care for children with complex medical needs.
The practice welcomed its first physician, Devyani Chowdhury, MD, board certified pediatric cardiologist, in November. Future growth of the practice will include pediatric specialists in gastroenterology, neurology, surgery and other areas. The group will grow in increments to meet the ongoing needs of families in the Lancaster area and to provide a supportive network to referring physicians in general pediatrics and family medicine.
Lancaster General Health Pediatric Specialists is located at Women & Babies Hospital (WBH), thus enhancing LG Health’s ability to care for babies with the most complex needs. “With its Level III NICU, on-site availability of neonatologists and maternal-fetal specialists, Women & Babies Hospital is recognized as the area’s premier resource for high-risk deliveries,” commented Geoffrey Eddowes, Senior Vice President of WBH. “The addition of this specialty group allows our physicians to have consults available quickly and establishes a collaborative environment so our sickest babies can receive the best possible care,” he added.
