Silent Witness Exhibit to raise awareness of domestic violence

9/24/2018 7:43:44 PM

In conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, Lancaster General Health, Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County, and Lancaster County Victim/Witness Services will display the Silent Witness Exhibit at five locations in Lancaster County.

The exhibit of life-sized wooden figures represents the men, women, and children who died in Lancaster County as a result of domestic violence. Victims’ families created life stories to display on the figures.

The goal of the exhibit is to promote the need and hope for change. Domestic violence impacts one in four women and one in seven men.

A kick-off event will be held October 1 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lancaster General Health Suburban Pavilion. Representatives from the medical, criminal justice, and victim services fields will offer remarks:

  • Michelle Schori, Executive Director Women & Pediatrics Service Line, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health

  • Christine Gilfillan, Director, Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County

  • Craig Stedman, Lancaster County District Attorney

  • Jarrad Berkihiser, Chief, Lancaster City Bureau of Police
