Inpatient Behavioral Health
The Behavioral Health Unit at Lancaster General Hospital offers acute psychiatric care for adults 18 years of age and older. Our compassionate and highly skilled treatment team provides a therapeutic, non-judgmental environment that is safe and non-threatening, helping patients regain wellness, coping skills, and functioning.
Our patients are referred by physicians, therapists, clergy, social service agencies, or the hospital’s emergency department, and typically receive care for 14-21 days. Most patients are voluntarily admitted, although some are admitted on court ordered involuntary commitments.
Behavioral Health is a closed unit with 36 beds. Our therapeutic services include:
Individual and group therapies
Family education and therapy
Social service evaluation and referrals
Medication administration and education
