On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Lancaster General Health (LG Health) officially broke ground for the new two-story, 70,000 square foot Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center, to be located at the current entrance to the Radiation Oncology Department at LG Heath’s Suburban Outpatient Pavilion, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster.
The $44 million facility will integrate cancer care by bringing medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons and other cancer specialists together in one, centralized location with access to existing services, including the Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health.
The Cancer Center will feature:
-
A new radiation wing, considered the “hub of technology,” with the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies available.
-
Infusion therapy/chemotherapy suites configured with patient comfort in mind. The spacious area will offer comfortable seating with views of the exterior landscaping.
-
A conference and education center with the most advanced technology and connectivity. Highly programmed education and information to patients, families and the community will be available.
-
A tranquil Healing Garden with a natural landscape where patients, families and friends can find a quiet space between treatments.
Designed by Ballinger Architect with Benchmark Construction Company, Inc., as the Construction Manager, the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center is scheduled to open in late 2012 or early 2013.
