Breast Cancer Studies

Over the years, clinical trials have advanced the treatment of breast cancer and other diseases. We participate in numerous studies sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. As part of Penn Medicine, we are able to make many leading-edge treatment protocols available here in Lancaster County.

Types of clinical trials

Clinical trials are held in phases. We offer access to Phase II and Phase III clinical trials.

  • Phase II — Smaller trials help determine appropriate dosages of new medications.
  • Phase III — Larger trials that compare the effectiveness of a new drug with the existing standard treatment. The new drug is thought to be at least as beneficial, if not more effective.

Current breast cancer clinical trials

If you have breast cancer, you may be eligible to participate in clinical trials of promising new treatments. Your doctor and nurse navigator can explain the risks and benefits, answer your questions, and help you make a decision about participation.
