Gynecologic Cancer Studies
Clinical trials advance the treatment of gynecologic cancers and other diseases. LG Health/Penn Medicine participates in numerous studies sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and the Gynecologic Oncology Group, making many leading-edge treatment protocols available in Lancaster County.
Types of clinical trials
We participate in Phase II and Phase III clinical trials.
Phase II trials are used to show new treatments can be effective for a given type of cancer.
Phase III trials compare the effectiveness of new treatments with existing standard treatments.
Current gynecologic clinical trials
If you have a cancer of the female reproductive organs, you may wish to participate in one of our clinical trials of promising new treatments. Your doctor can explain the risks and benefits, answer your questions, and help you make a decision about participation.
We are currently poised to open a phase III study comparing single-agent olaparib, or the combination of cediranib and olaparib, to standard platinum-based chemotherapy in women with recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.
