Lancaster Emergency Associates
Lancaster Emergency Associates (LEA) is the exclusive provider of Emergency Medical care at Lancaster General Hospital (LGH). Established in 1966, our goal is to deliver excellent, compassionate and expedient care for the patients of Lancaster General Hospital.
Lancaster Emergency Associates (LEA) was established in 1966 by Dr. Milton W. Johns, Dr. Robert E. Stoner, Dr. Donald D. Dunkle, and Dr. F. Barry Moberg. None of the original physicians had specialty training in Emergency Medicine and were trained as Family Practitioners. These four men were ahead of the majority of physicians and Emergency Departments in America, by providing 24 hour a day physician coverage in an Emergency Room. Since this time the specialty of Emergency Medicine has evolved into its own formal specialty of medicine, requiring Residency training and Board Certification.
Today LEA is one of the oldest private Emergency practices in the nation. The requirements for employment and partnership are extremely selective and competitive. LEA prides itself on only hiring the finest trained physicians in America. LEA has grown to be a leader in the delivery of Emergency Medical Services in the county and region, offering medical direction for multiple Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) agencies.
LEA is sensitive to the multiple stressors currently facing all Emergency Departments around the country. We strive to deliver excellent, compassionate and expedient care for the patients of Lancaster General Hospital. We continue to reflect on the past, train for the future, and prepare for the unexpected. It is with the utmost honor and gratitude that Lancaster Emergency Associates has been able to provide state of the art Emergency Health Care at Lancaster General Hospital over the years.
