My struggle with weight loss was what I was known for. This struggle consumed me, my life, and my happiness for too long and I couldn’t take it any longer. It was time to make a change and take control of my life. Growing up in an active household meant that most of my meals were on the go and it didn’t leave a lot of nights with a well-balanced meal around the table. Eliza's Story
I FINALLY got sick and tired of being "sick and tired.” I had a three year-old son and I was winded walking up the stairs. I knew I needed to make a change in my life. I decided to go to my first bariatric information session at LG Health in early 2011. I signed up for the session, but then got scared and decided not to go. The following month, I was determined to go and I went. I was very impressed and decided to sign up for a consultation that night. I decided to have the adjustable gastric band surgery.

Linda's Story
I was born with severe hip dysplasia, and was told I’d never walk normally without assistive crutches...12 years of physical therapy and many pairs of orthopedic boots later, I was able to walk normally, but still had many leg problems. My whole life seemed to be ‘inactive’ – even as a young teen one of my favorite hobbies was watching old movies from the 30’s and 40’s – and I always was “the chubby kid”.

I was always the big kid in school
As a kid, I played sports year-round (football, soccer, basketball, baseball, etc.) and through college. After college I was still involved with sports, but slowly began putting on more weight. I have progressively gotten bigger over the last 20 years.

Lori's Story
I've been overweight all my life. I can remember trying many different diets throughout the years: Weight Watchers®, physician-monitored diets and a variety of others that would work for a short time and then it would all come back. In my mid-twenties, I was diagnosed with Graves disease and from there I'd teeter back and forth between hyper- and hypothyroidism, making losing weight even harder and causing me to lose my motivation quickly.
