Heart Center
Welcome to the Heart Center of Lancaster General Health
Lancaster General Health is the area’s leader in cardiovascular services. Surgeons at Lancaster General Health performed Lancaster County’s first open heart surgery in 1983. In addition, we were the first hospital in the country to perform high-risk interventions with the aid of percutaneous ventricular assist devices.
Since that time, the Heart Center has grown and developed to distinguish itself in virtually all aspects of cardiac care. Medical and surgical treatment is offered for a wide variety of heart conditions including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, valve conditions and others.
Among our accomplishments, our cardiologists perform more than 3,500 electrophysiology procedures, 4,500 diagnostic catheterizations and 1,400 interventional procedures annually. The Joint Commission has certified Lancaster General Health for its programs in Heart Attack and Congestive Heart Failure.
Most of all, we are here to support you in your journey towards optimum health. We offer a variety of prevention programs and educational events as well as web-based resources and interactive tools—all designed to keep you up-to-date with the latest healthcare information. You can access these resources in your community, at our hospital and outpatient locations and here, online.
