Lancaster General Health is entering a new era in cardiovascular care with the introduction of The Lancaster Heart & Vascular Institute. The new name reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding the programs and services we offer as a regional leader in heart and vascular care.
Since our surgeons performed the first open heart surgery in Lancaster County in 1983, we have distinguished ourselves as a top provider of heart care in Pennsylvania. Our programs include medical and surgical treatment for a wide variety of heart conditions including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, valve conditions and others.
Our medical and surgical teams perform more research, diagnostic services and open-heart procedures than any other health system in the region.
Lancaster General Health has assembled the region’s top physicians for its heart and vascular programs, many of whom are nationally and internationally known. These include cardiologists, vascular surgeons, cardiac surgeons, interventional radiologists and other specialists all focused on delivering the very best care in a patient-focused environment. Bringing these exceptional physicians together as part of the Lancaster Heart & Vascular Institute will optimize cardiovascular care in our community.
The Lancaster Heart & Vascular Institute also reflects our commitment to advanced technology, such as our new hybrid operating room, which enables us to perform complex cardiac procedures; and new services, including the Women’s Heart Health Clinic at Women & Babies Hospital. Working together with the Lancaster Heart & Stroke Foundation, our physicians are involved in groundbreaking clinical research. These studies offer our patients access to advanced therapy and treatment options.
