The Sleep Medicine Center at Lancaster General Health: Helping you sleep well

If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, wake up too early, or are overly tired during the day, you may be among the 50-70 million Americans suffering with sleep disorders.

The Sleep Medicine Center at Lancaster General Health can help. We specialize in diagnosing and treating many sleep-related problems including:

  • Insomnia -- problems falling and/or staying asleep
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness -- difficulty staying awake
  • Sleep apnea -- disruption in breathing
  • Abnormal sleep/wake rhythms – challenges with sticking to a regular sleep schedule
  • Other sleep disorders like narcolepsy, nightmares and sleep walking and talking

Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, our team of sleep medicine-certified physicians and highly trained technical staff members are committed to helping you get a good night’s sleep.

We offer overnight sleep studies at two convenient locations: the Downtown Outpatient Pavilion and Kissel Hill Outpatient Center. Options for those needing home studies are also available.

The benefits of a good night’s sleep
Sleep is essential to good physical and mental health. When you’re sleeping, your body’s immune system is restored, tissues are repaired, and learning ability improves. Without enough sleep (6 1/2 to 9 hours for the average person), anxiety and irritability increase, and overall health, safety, and quality of life suffer. Lack of sleep is linked to everything from poor work performance and driving accidents, to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
