Single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT•CT)

SPECT•CT uses two types of imaging technology to capture more precise information very quickly. Multi-slice computed tomography (CT) shows what the structure inside the body looks like; nuclear single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) shows how it functions. By combining this information, doctors can pinpoint the location, size, nature and extent of disease virtually anywhere in the body, allowing for earlier detection, often before symptoms appear. Studies take less time and provide your doctor with more information to make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.

At Lancaster General Health, SPECT•CT is available at the Suburban Pavilion and Lancaster General Hospital for:

  • Bone SPECT
  • Parathyroid imaging
  • Imaging for carcinoid tumors
  • Imaging for neuroendocrine tumors
  • Nuclear medicine treatment for thyroid cancer
