Chaplaincy Care and Education

Meet the Staff


Carolanne B. Hauck, MA, Board Certified Chaplain

Carolanne has been employed by Lancaster General since 1998. She provided pastoral care to patients and staff at the former Susquehanna Division Hospital before joining the staff of Women and Babies in 2002. Carolanne received a BA in psychology from Millersville University and graduated Chestnut Hill College with a MA in Holistic Spirituality with a concentration in Healthcare. She was board certified in 2008 through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.​

Keith Espenshade, M. Div.,
ACPE Certified Educator

Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor
Keith came to LGH in 1998 to supervise the Clinical Pastoral Education program. His educational training includes a B.A. from Messiah College and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois. He is ordained by the Mennonite Church, and is an ACPE Certified Educator. He is also certified as a SAVI® Trainer. He served churches in Chicago and Allentown, completed a chaplain residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA, and was a chaplain/supervisor-in-training at a retirement community in Gaithersburg, MD. While in Allentown, he also served as a volunteer police chaplain.

Peter Jupin

Staff Chaplain, Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, Suburban Pavilion
Peter has been employed at Lancaster General since 1987, serving in Social Work, Mental Health, the Employee Assistance Program, and now Pastoral Services. As chaplain at the Cancer Institute, he supports families and staff in addressing the emotional and spiritual challenges of the cancer experience. Pete is also a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg.

David Brubaker

Staff Chaplain, Palliative Care Services 

Dave has been employed at LG Health since 2010 as a staff chaplain on the Palliative Care Service team. There he provides spiritual and emotional support to acutely ill patients with life-limiting disease. He specializes in providing support during patient and family meetings where goals of care are discerned and a plan of care is developed. He completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education at LG Health and received his MAMFT at Evangelical Theological Seminary in 2009.  Dave and his wife live in Manheim, PA with their 3 children.

Sage Olnick

Staff Chaplain, Heart Failure Unit / Advance Care Planning / VAD Clinic

Sage has been employed at LG Health since 2007 serving first as a nurse and now as a staff chaplain. She attended PA College of Health Sciences and Eastern Mennonite University where she earned her BSN. She then obtained her MDiv from Lancaster Theological Seminary. She completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at LG Health and an additional three units at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister. Sage specializes in spiritual care to patients with Heart Failure and Advance Care Planning.

Randy Keener

Staff Chaplain, Care Connections

Randy joined the team in 2015 as a Staff Chaplain with Care Connections after he completed his CPE in 2012 and his CPE residency with Lancaster General Hospital in 2014.  He received his B.A. from Goshen College and his M.DIV from Eastern Mennonite Seminary in 2013.  In addition to his service at LGH, he also serves as Pastor at Witmer Heights Mennonite Church in Lancaster.  Randy and his wife live in Lancaster City.   ​

Katy Heinzel

Staff Chaplain, Oncology Unit
Katy Heinzel has worked with LGH since September 2014 when she became the first Saxton Fellow for Oncology Care, based primarily at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.  After finishing that fellowship in September 2016 she moved to the oncology inpatient floor where she has been providing spiritual care since that time.  She also teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes which are open to anyone in the community.  Katy completed her BA in Biology/Environmental Studies in 1986 from the University of Pennsylvania and her MS in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Baltimore.  After finishing 4 units of CPE at LGH, and before returning to LGH, she worked for Hospice and Community Care as a staff chaplain for 3 ½ years. She became board certified as a chaplain in March 2014.​

Jennifer Potter

Staff Chaplain, Women & Babies Hospital
Jennifer Potter joined the team in November 2017 as staff chaplain at Women and Babies Hospital. She received her Master of Divinity degree at Lancaster Theological Seminary in June 2014. She did a chaplain internship at Wellspan York Hospital in the summer of 2016 and completed her chaplain residency at Lancaster General Hospital in August 2017. She is pursuing board certification in Chaplaincy. Jennifer is married and has two children.

Kelly Kleckner

Administrative Assistant and CPE Program Admissions Coordinator
Kelly is a graduate of Hempfield High School and the Central Penn Business School with an Associate in Specialized Business Degree. She has been with Lancaster General since 1989.

Jaime O’Malley

CPE Education Coordinator
Jaime is a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College with an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).  Prior to joining LGHealth, she worked as the Director of Global Shared Services for a Global law firm.  She has been with Lancaster General since 2018.
