Obesity & Pregnancy
Being at a healthy weight helps promote a healthy pregnancy and baby. Our free New Beginnings program offers overweight women who have just learned they are pregnant individual and group sessions on nutrition, exercise and stress-management.
The program consists of six sessions, held every other week at the Suburban Pavilion, 2100 Harrisburg Pike, Suite 200, Lancaster. Topics include risk factors, nutrition, exercise, breastfeeding, and postpartum issues. After the sessions are finished, pregnant moms return for monthly educational sessions and weight checks.
Requirements
It is recommended that participants enter the program before week 12 of their pregnancy. Participants should have no existing physical limitations or medical conditions including:

Type I Diabetes

Lupus- autoimmune disease

Steroid Therapy- non-inhaled steroids

History of bariatric surgery

History of pre-term labor
