Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences

    • Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences is the educational arm of Lancaster General Health. General Information

    • When you enter through the James Street Lobby, pass the information desk and the admitting office is on the left.
    • You should bring:
      • Pajamas
      • Toiletries
      • Slippers
      • Robe
      • Medication List
        • You should always carry a current list of medications with you. Some prescriptions, vitamins, over-the-counter medicines, or herbal supplements could interfere with other medicines you receive while in the hospital.
        • You will be asked for this list if you have surgery, are admitted to the hospital, or undergo tests or procedures.
        • The medicine list should include:
          • Prescription medications
          • Over The Counter (OTC) medications
          • Vitamins
          • Herbal supplements

          • AND include
          • Dosage or amount of medicine you are taking
          • Frequency or how often you take the medicine
          • Why you are taking these medicines
    • The best way to protect your personal property is to leave it at home. If you have valuable items with you, please send them home with a family member, if possible.
    • You may want to bring a few dollars ($2-$3) to purchase daily newspapers. 
       
    • Private rooms are based on availability, no advance reservations are accepted. 
       
    • If you give the admitting office the name of your church, your clergy will be notified of your admission.
       
    • We offer 24-hour open visitation, with preferred visiting hours from 11 am - 8:30 pm
    • Rest is an important part of the patient's recuperation. Visitors are asked to observe the following regulations:
      • Limit visitors to two at a time.
      • Limit visitation time to allow for adequate rest.
      • Children must have adult supervision, and children under 12 are kindly restricted from visiting the units below:
        • 5 Lime (Trauma Neurological Unit)
        • 6 Lime (Intensive Care Unit)
    • Please check with the nursing unit for specific visiting hours, as they vary from unit to unit.

Physician Information

    • The Find a Doctor link on our Web site has a current database of our medical staff. The database can be quered by last name, group name, city, zip code and specialty or any combination. There is also a Call Me Now feature where a representative will contact you by phone by submitting a form. You can also call our Physician Referral Hotline at 1-888-LGH-INFO (1-888-544-4636)
        
    • Visit the LG Health Hub for blogs, videos, recipes, patient’s stories, and risk assessments, all created to help you make healthy choices and be well.
    • Appointment scheduling can be done either by calling our scheduling office at (717) 544-5941 between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m, Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. You can also request an Appointment online for certain procedures.
