Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT TRAFFIC DETOURS ARE EXPECTED?
Traffic changes will be required to accommodate construction.  As of March 1, Frederick Street is closed to traffic between Lime and Cherry streets, with no on-street parking. The sidewalk on the hospital side of Frederick Street will also be closed between Lime and Cherry streets. Detour signage is posted to help drivers navigate around the closure.  Both lanes of traffic will be open on Lime Street, but parking will be eliminated on the hospital side of the street.

At certain times during the project, streets may close temporarily to vehicles and pedestrians.

HOW WILL PARKING BE IMPACTED?
A portion of the Lime Street garage (referred to as Parking Garage C) is closed during construction. Radiology and MRI Group patients should park in the James Street Parking Garage and enter the main entrance of the hospital. The remaining portion of the Lime Street garage (referred to as Parking Garage B) remain opens for Orthopedic, Endoscopy and Interventional Vascular Unit patients.

WHICH ENTRANCES WILL BE CLOSED?
Hospital entrances at Outpatient Radiology will be closed. All Radiology and MRI Group patients should use the main hospital entrance on James Street.

WHERE WILL THE HELIPAD BE RELOCATED?
A new permanent helipad will be installed on top of the new addition. During construction, the employee parking lot at 600 N. Duke St. will be closed and used as a temporary helipad. After landing, patients will be transported by ambulance to the LGH Trauma Department.

WHAT IS THE SPECIFIC IMPACT TO RADIOLOGY ASSOCIATES?
Outpatient Radiology patients will park in the James Street Garage, register at Admitting on the first floor and be escorted by hospital staff to their testing location.

WHAT OTHER CHANGES MIGHT OCCUR?
The project also will require closure of some elevators and interior bridges connecting different areas of the hospital. Some departments and offices will be relocated.

Guest Services will help direct patients to their destinations.
