At Lancaster General Health, your safety is our top priority. The tips below help us keep you safe.
Cell phones and wireless transmitting devices are prohibited in most patient rooms and in all testing, treatment, and diagnostic areas of the hospital. Bluetooth usage is prohibited throughout our facilities.
All electrical appliances, including razors, hair dryers, and curling irons, are not allowed. Battery-powered appliances may be used.
We periodically conduct fire drills. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In the event of an actual emergency, hospital staff will notify you.
The medications you require will be ordered by your doctor. Please do not take any previously prescribed medication or over-the-counter drugs while you are in the hospital. But please do bring the list of medications you are taking, including vitamins and natural products. Tell us about any drug allergies or adverse reactions you have had in the past.
The wrist identification band(s) you received are for your protection. They provide positive identification to staff who serve you. Please don’t remove any bands during your hospital stay.
Smoking, or the use of any tobacco products, is not permitted anywhere in the hospital or on hospital grounds. We offer a variety of smoking cessation support. Click here for details or call 717-544-3138.
Understanding your care
If you have any doubts or concerns about your care, please ask questions and make sure you understand the answers. If possible, it is often helpful to have a relative or friend present. Prior to surgery, make sure you understand exactly what will occur and how you will feel during recovery. Tell your surgeon, anesthesiologist, and nurses about any allergies, bad reactions to anesthesia, and medications you are taking.
Please do not bring items of value to the hospital. If you do, a staff member can assist you in depositing items in the hospital safe
