The Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Lancaster General Hospital is a highly skilled team that is dedicated to furthering the health of our community through superior cardiovascular care and education. Having been recognized as one of the Solucient Top 100 Hospitals, we pride ourselves in combining the technical and innovative skill of larger teaching institutions, with the hometown atmosphere of compassion, understanding, and individualized care.

Nationally Recognized

Our cath lab team consists of Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists, 92% of which are nationally registered. Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds including Respiratory Therapists, Registered Radiologic Technologists, Paramedics, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.

The average tenure for our staff is 12 years while many members of the team have been with Lancaster General for longer. Our cath lab is supported by a Pre-Post Procedure area that is staffed by Registered Nurses, seven Patient Care Assistants, and two Secretaries. Additional support staff includes Patient Care Facilitators, Image Librarians, Billing Specialists, as well as Materials Management, Information Technology, and Decision Support Staff and transporters. This team is managed by a Cath Lab Manager, as well as a Clinical Supervisor and Educational Coordinator.

Our expert team provides life saving treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members of the surrounding communities can feel secure in knowing they are only minutes away from a nationally recognized, state of the art, heart center.

Community Oriented

Our dedication to the community is not contained within the walls of Lancaster General Hospital. In addition to the daily operations of our Catheterization Lab, our staff members are very active in educating the community about the risks, prevention, and treatment of heart disease, as well as other health related topics.

Several team members belong to the Lancaster General Speakers Bureau and are available to provide educational lectures to groups and organizations throughout the community. Others are committed to furthering the field of Invasive Cardiology and the RCIS credential having been instrumental in establishing the Keystone Chapter of the Society for Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals.

Rich Experience

Team members share their technical expertise and years of experience with future healthcare professionals through programs within the local education system. They travel to local schools, providing educational lectures about career opportunities within cardiology.

Staff members also teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes within our institution and throughout the community. Together, we are shaping the future of our healthcare system.
