What is microneedling?

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. It is one of the latest and most effective approaches to rejuvenate the skin by improving its texture and firmness. The treatment creates tiny punctures (micro-needles) in the top layer of skin that trigger your body to create new collagen and elastin in order to heal.

Microneedling is a great way to treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne scars

Microneedling can be done all over the body, not only the face. We use the procedure to treat arms, legs, neck, abdomen, back and hands. Our aesthetician will customize the treatment to your meet your goals.

The Lancaster General Health Experience

What to expect during microneedling

To ensure your comfort during your microneedling treatment, our licensed medical aesthetician starts by applying an anesthetic cream and sometimes a light layer of water to your skin. She then rolls a hand-held device covered in tiny needles over your target area. Depending on your goals and if you want to reduce acne scars or eliminate sun damage, she will match the depth of the needles accordingly.

The microneedling procedure lasts about 30 minutes. You may experience skin redness that will fade over the next several days. Most patients require anywhere from four to eight treatments, spaced a month apart.

Microneedling cost

Depending on your treatment goals and other services you may undergo, microneedling costs vary. We will discuss the cost of microneedling with during your consultation and are always available to set up a payment plan that works for you.

Microneedling risks

Although risks from microneedling treatment are minor, some people may experience allergic reactions from follow-up skin care or infection. To help ensure this does not happen, our aesthetician will talk with you about the best follow-up care treatments. She will also discuss any risks specific to your procedure.
