At Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, we provide testing to patients who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have an upcoming procedure or surgery, or have scheduled travel to a destination that requires a test.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath, call your healthcare provider who will determine if a test is needed.

Do I need a provider’s order to receive COVID-19 test?

Yes, you need an order from a provider. If a test is needed your provider will direct you to a testing location.

COVID-19 Testing for Patients who have been notified they have been exposed to a person with COVID-19.

Get an Order for COVID-19 Testing for Patients without Symptoms (Pre-Procedure, Travel or Return to College)  

Patients with a Lancaster General Health Provider who need an order for a travel or return to college test can use the following options:

For pre-procedure testing obtain an order from the provider performing the procedure. If you have an order, schedule your pre-procedure test online.

Schedule Testing for Patients without Symptoms (after getting an order)

After getting an order, you may schedule your pre-procedure, travel or returning to college test using the following options:

If you do not meet criteria for testing at LG Health, there are testing sites across Pennsylvania with varied testing criteria.

Cost for COVID-19 Testing

The cash price for a COVID-19 test is $57.24. The cash price of swabbing for COVID-19 is $8.10.

Based on your symptoms and situation, your provider may order a more in-depth test. These tests check for COVID-19, in addition to flu and RSV. The cash price for these tests vary from $164.16 - $260.28.

In order to get a COVID-19 test, you will need a medical provider to assess you and order testing. This visit with the provider carries an additional charge.

For patients without health insurance

We will assess your situation to see if the CARES Act can cover the claim. If so, you may be eligible for help with the cost of COVID-19 testing.

For patients with health insurance

We will bill your insurance. Any cost not covered will be your responsibility. The final out-of-pocket cost will vary based on the specifics of your insurance coverage, coinsurance, copays or deductibles.
