COVID-19 Testing

How to Get Tested for COVID-19

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath, call your healthcare provider who will determine if a COVID-19 test is needed. Your provider could order a COVID-19 test or recommend a different course of treatment based on their evaluation of your symptoms.

Do I need a provider’s order for COVID-19 testing?

Yes, you need an order from a provider. Call your primary care provider to discuss if testing may be an option for you. Your provider may order a COVID-19 test or recommend another course of treatment based on your symptoms.

If you do not have a provider and are experiencing symptoms, you may conduct an online video visit using Penn Medicine OnDemand. Start your visit at LGHealth.org/OnDemand. You may also call one of our Urgent Care locations to determine if an assessment is appropriate for you.

I heard that other organizations, not part of LG Health, are testing people without symptoms of COVID-19. Is this true?

Yes, this is true. In special situations, people without symptoms of COVID-19 may be tested. This is known as asymptomatic testing.

Due to the limited supply of tests, the LG Health testing sites only offer testing for 2 groups of people:

  • People with symptoms of COVID-19 who have a provider’s order for the test.
  • People who are having an upcoming procedure or surgery, who have a provider’s order for the test.
Once I get an order from a provider, can I go to either testing site?

Yes, once you receive a COVID-19 test order from your provider, you may go to either testing site. Please see information below for hours and address for each testing site.

Is there a cost for COVID-19 testing at LG Health?

During this time, we are extending a zero dollar ($0.00) patient responsibility for COVID-19 screening tests. This means that you will have $0.00 out-of-pocket costs for COVID-19 screening.
