Happy New Year!

2016 may be a week old, but we’re not quite ready to put Christmas in the past. This month we feature recently retired family physician Dr. Bill Hunt, who has played Santa Claus for charity and fun since 1971. Bill’s experiences remind us that the spirit of Santa can live year-round.

We’ll introduce you to Dr. Anthony DiMarco, who continues a family tradition by serving as President of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. DiMarco, the youngest of four brothers who are D.O.s, is Managing Physician at LGHP -- Parkesburg Family Medicine.

You’ll also meet Dr. Tony Ton-That, LG Health’s new Medical Director of Spine and Low Back Pain. Dr. Ton-That leads efforts to establish a standardized approach to treating low back pain, the most common complaint for people who see a primary-care provider.

We hope you will read two important articles from your fellow physicians on patient identification and caring for Medicare patients who are on Observation.

Meanwhile, LG Health keeps growing. This month we welcome nine new physicians, 10 new medical affiliates and a new practice: Manor Ridge Family Medicine.

Thank you for reading Progress Notes. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016!

Tony
