Drs. Adam Biuckians and Kristina Newport honored with ’40 Under 40’ award

Recipients of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s new 40 Under 40 award include Adam Biuckians, M.D., and Kristina Newport, M.D.

The honorees, who were selected by a committee of physicians, are recognized for outstanding contributions to the practice of medicine and the delivery of patient care, despite being early in their medical careers.
Dr. Biuckians is a child and adolescent psychiatrist with LG Health and Community Services Group, where he serves as medical director. He was recognized for his instrumental role in bringing a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist to Fulton County using telepsychiatry.
Dr. Newport, of Palliative Medicine Consultants, is the task force chair for the Pennsylvania Department of Health Palliative Care Plan and Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. She was recognized for giving "100 percent to grow and execute any initiative she puts her force behind.”


Dr. Chris Lupold appointed to ‘shoppable care’ work group

Chris Lupold, M.D., of Family Medicine Willow Street, will join a state government work group that will examine ways to increase healthcare cost transparency through “shoppable care.”

The work group is part of a statewide initiative to improve the way Pennsylvanians pay for, deliver and coordinate health and healthcare services. The initiative involves the state Department of Health, Department of Insurance and a number of other Commonwealth agencies.
Dr. Lupold’s work group will explore options for “shoppable care” transparency for both commodities and episodes of care, which will empower, enable and incent consumers to make value-conscious decisions about their care choices.
The work group will begin meeting in October, with a goal of making final recommendations by next fall.
