Given the rising awareness nationally of the widespread issue regarding the use and misuse of prescription opioids, the state of Pennsylvania has launched the PA Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PA PDMP).
All dispensers and pharmacies are now required by law to report to the new PA PDMP system within 72 hours of dispensation of controlled substances (Schedule II to V). Registration for prescribers and their delegates began Aug. 8.
The Pennsylvania PDMP Portal, PA PMP AWARxE, is a gateway for prescribers, pharmacists and their delegates to easily look up their patients' controlled substance prescription history before prescribing or dispensing. This information helps healthcare providers better identify patients struggling with substance use disorder, so that they can help them get the treatment they need.
The PA PMP AWARxE system is now available to all medical professionals and their delegates.
As we at LG Health are committed to assuring safe opioid prescribing practices, we are recommending that all LG Health providers (including advanced practice providers) gain more information and register for this program by clicking here.

We thank you in advance for your participation.
You should anticipate further communication regarding this program and LG Health strategy to be forthcoming in the near future.
