Happy New Year!

It’s hard to believe that another year has come to a close. 2017 was certainly a busy and challenging one for LG Health and the health-care industry overall.

In this month’s Progress Notes, some of your colleagues share their resolutions for 2018. You probably won’t be surprised by the common theme of making more time for family, and for taking better care of ourselves.

We also celebrate LG Health’s recent achievements in quality and safety, which include a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. A Q&A with our Physician Executive for Quality, Dr. Mike Ripchinski, details how your good work contributes directly to these honors.

You’ll read about our Innovation Unit on 4 Lime, which marks the beginning of a transformation in the care experience for both patients and staff. As a clinician, you will likely notice improved communication and efficiencies.

We also introduce you to Dr. J. Philipp Othmer, who joined LG Health Physicians Behavioral Health last summer. Dr. Othmer has found that his painting hobby helps him connect with his family, patients and colleagues.

This new year, I hope you will take a cue from Dr. Othmer and make time for a personal pursuit that brings you relaxation and joy.

Thank you for reading Progress Notes. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2018!
