The Center for Health Care Innovation at LG Health has opened to facilitate rapid development, testing and implementation of new strategies to reimagine health care delivery.
This local extension of The Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation in Philadelphia aims to produce dramatically better value, patient outcomes and experiences, said Allen Cubell, MBA, Executive Director, Innovation.
What is an innovation center all about?
"It's simple," Cubell said. "We will help people throughout LG Health to identify big problems and solve them. We are not 1-800-INNOVATE. You can't stop in or go online and order five pounds of innovation, three quarts of new ideas, and six cans of new-to-world technologies. Our approach to innovation is collaborative and culture-driven. We want to create processes for you, not an island of innovation for us. We are here to help you to innovate."
What the center will do:
Taking strategic direction from LG Health's leadership, the center staff will solicit ideas from across the network, at all levels of the organization. "Great ideas can come from anywhere," Cubell said. "No one has a lock on imagination."
The center will then employ the proven techniques and processes developed by science and industry that have been so successfully adapted for health care innovation by the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation.
The center will develop and enable a culture of innovation throughout our network. Through various activities, competitions, training and other programs, center staff will:
Solicit and listen to ideas for solving health care problems
Provide training in different innovation processes and techniques
Coach innovators through processes and help scale workable solutions
Provide human and financial resources to rapidly test new ideas
Incorporate the Strategic Acceleration Team
Partner with venture capital companies, vendors and startups
Scan for new technologies and business models
Attend the Innovation on the Road at LG Health Workshop
The center will host a free Innovation on the Road workshop 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Lancaster General Hospital. Click here to register. Please note that seating is limited.
