Two LG Health teams recently were honored with 2018 Penn Medicine Quality and Patient Safety Awards. Awards were presented Feb. 6 in Philadelphia.
The awards, which are chosen by a multidisciplinary committee, acknowledge departments that have exhibited leadership and innovation in activities that ensure high-quality clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, patient safety and cost efficiency.
The Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute team won the Quality & Patient Safety Award for “Integration of a Palliative Oncology Disease Team at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.”

The Emergency Department and Performance Improvement teams won the Operational Award for “Utilization of Lean Performance Improvement Tools to Drive Emergency Department Standardization and Sustained Process Improvement.”

LG Health staff members also were part of a University of Pennsylvania Health System team that won a Quality & Patient Safety Award for “Development and Implementation of a Health-System Wide Initiative to Improve Sepsis Care.”

Lancaster General Hospital has been named to Healthgrades’ 2018 America’s 50 Best Hospitals.
