Late last year, working as part of the LiveWELL Lancaster County Coalition, Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital convened a community forum to review the Lancaster County Community Health Needs Assessment data.
At this Community Health Stakeholder session, trend data was presented which represents our community’s most critical needs. More than 50 community representatives participated in a robust discussion regarding the community’s greatest assets and gaps related to the identified health needs.
“There’s a lot of data and it can be overwhelming, so it’s important to look at each health issue from the standpoint of how many people are impacted, the overall cost to society by not taking action to address it, and our ability to make an impact to improve quality of life for Lancaster County residents,” said LG Health’s Jessica Klinkner. “The purpose of the forum was to capture the community reaction to the data presented and to solicit input on the prioritization of health needs.”
The report, which is slated to be available in April, will be followed by LG Health/Penn Medicine’s three-year Community Health Implementation Strategy to address next steps in the areas of mental health and well-being, obesity, substance abuse and poverty.
