With farm injuries on the rise on family farms, Sue Lackmann, a health educator with LG Health, coordinates Safe Kids Lancaster County to assure that farm families keep safety top of mind.
Farm and Family Safety Day events aim to teach practical safety measures that families can apply on the farm and at home though interactive educational presentations.  Families will rotate through safety stations focusing on topics that include hidden farm hazards, equipment safety, the dangers associated with large animals and other safety topics. This summer’s Safety Days are:

June 4
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Refton Fire Company
99 Church St., Refton
June 11
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Petra Church
565 Airport Rd., New Holland

Additionally, Worker Protection Training, a course about reducing the risk of pesticide poisonings and injuries among agricultural workers, will be offered at these events for children and adults who are seeking certification.

Both free Safety Day events include a morning snack, lunch, and safety related materials. For more information about registration, contact Sue Lackmann,, or 717-544-3284.
