Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Lancaster General Health aids in free screening programs like the HealthyWoman Program, which provides breast and cervical screening to underserved women in Lancaster between the ages of 40 and 64.
LG Health became a HealthyWoman Provider in 2002 and is currently the only provider in Lancaster County. Ethel Wander, LG Health Community Health Educator, coordinates screening and follow-up care for women in the program. This care and coordination involves the scheduling of mammography and any follow-up services.

Women who are diagnosed with cancer may be eligible for services through the breast and cervical cancer screening (BCCPT) program. The BCCPT Program is administered by the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services and provides full healthcare benefits to women needing treatment for breast or cervical cancer, or a pre-cancerous condition of the breast or cervix.

The Lancaster Radiology Group, Anesthesia Associates and Lancaster Surgical Group partner with LG Health to provide services. In addition to the HealthyWoman Program, LG Health has received grant funding from Susan G. Komen Philadelphia, Help the Fight, and Tanger Outlets to assist with the costs associated with testing, treatment and survivorship services.

Since 2002, more than 1,000 women have received screening and diagnostic services through the HealthyWoman Program.
