In an effort to encourage movement and active transportation, LG Health has sponsored a station in the city’s first ever bike share program. LG Health’s sponsorship of the program is one of many ways the health system is working to reduce obesity in the community and promote a healthy lifestyle.

“Bike it Lancaster” is part of Lancaster’s broader bicycle infrastructure initiative, which includes painting bike lanes and “sharrows” to indicate a shared roadway between cyclists and motorists.

Initiated in the beginning of October, the Lancaster Bike share program currently has six stations throughout the city and is open to anyone who would like to use it. The basic rate is $2.50 an hour with annual memberships costing only $25.

The system works by downloading an app on a smartphone. The app then provides a code to unlock a bike. Those interested in participating in the bike share program should visit
