Going to the doctor just got a lot easier for J.P. McCaskey High School students.
Lancaster General Health opened a new primary care health care clinic at the city high school in December.
The McCaskey Health Center provides all of the services normally received at the doctor’s office -- routine and driving physicals, immunizations, step testing, screening, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, health education, and health insurance enrollment.
School-based health centers meet the needs of students by placing healthcare where and when they need it. They support students by helping them stay in school and help parents by eliminating their need to miss work for their children’s doctors’ visits.
The health center is open to all students whose parents complete an enrollment form. The forms are available at the center or J.P. McCaskey’s nurse’s office and the students can be seen by appointment or on a drop-in basis. The Center is open Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The number for appointments is (717) 544-9021.
