Dentists from Lancaster General Health’s Dental General Practice Residency Program have begun seeing patients at the Willow Street Campus of the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center each Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The services, supervised by LG Health’s Dental Director, Dr. Kevin J. Risko, DMD, include fillings, extractions, crowns, dentures and root canals. Provided through a partnership with the Lancaster County CTC’s Dental Clinic, located at 1730 Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street, the services are provided to patients over the age of 12 without insurance. If patients are under 18, a parent is required to accompany the minor for at least the first appointment.

“The dental clinic allows Lancaster County CTC to give back to our community and also to instill the value in our dental assisting students that everyone should have access to top-quality dental care,” said Dr. Marie Kelly, acting director for dental hygiene at Lancaster County CTC.

Susan Scott, the program manager for the LG Health dental residency program, added that the LG Health residents already perform similar free services at the Water Street Mission twice a month.

“These clinics are a great way for people who don’t have insurance to take care of their teeth, which is so important,” said Scott. She added that it also enables the dental residents to gain the experience needed to provide a range of services, many of which are no longer covered by Medicaid.
