Each year, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Safe Kids Lancaster County host Farm and Family Safety Days to help prevent and reduce the number of farm-related injuries.
At this year’s events, held in early June, community partners educated more than 175 participants on practical safety measures for the farm and home. Attendees rotated through interactive educational stations to learn about safety topics involving fire safety, hay holes, hidden hazards, large and small equipment, pesticides, bleeding emergencies, wheeled and pedestrian safety.
Safe Kids Lancaster County, led by LG Health, is dedicated to preventing accidental injury and death for children under age 14 through education, collaboration and advocacy. The coalition is comprised of volunteers and representatives from community organizations. For more information, call Sue Lackmann at 717-544-3282.
