Just as businesses need a plan, Lancaster County needs a plan that sets goals for its future. Places2040 is the plan that helps ensure Lancaster County remains a special place in 2040.

LG Health, one of the Partners for Place, is one of more than 20 regional, countywide, and city organizations and agencies that play a leadership role in guiding plans for the County.

“LG Health’s mission is to improve the health of the community, but we can’t do that alone because health care is only one part of what determines health,” said Alice Yoder, director of community health and wellness at LG Health. “The strongest influences on our health are our behaviors and the environment we live and work in.”

Recently, Places2040 published a draft plan to identify opportunities for Lancaster County’s future. The plan is available for public review and feedback until Oct. 24 when the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing for consideration of the plan. If the Board adopts the plan, it will serve as an advisory policy documents for countywide land use, transportation and quality of life.

"We need to think about building places that support health – places where it is convenient to walk and bike, places where we can enjoy nature, and places where people feel safe and connected with their neighbors," said Yoder.
