Each year, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Safe Kids of Lancaster County hosted a fun Farm and Family Safety Day. This year’s event was held on Feb. 2 at the Robert Fulton Fire Company.
The event teaches practical safety measures that families can apply on the farm and at home. This year, approximately 125 participants traveled from all over Lancaster County for a day of entertainment and learning. Health and agriculture educators presented on safety topics including: hidden hazards, large farming machines, stroke awareness, stop-the-bleed techniques, dental care, hands-only CPR, fire safety, ice safety, first aid for kids and calling 911.
Safe Kids Lancaster County, led by LG Health, is dedicated to preventing accidental injury and death for children under age 14 through education, collaboration and advocacy. The coalition is comprised of volunteers and representatives from community organizations.
