I am an oncologic surgeon specializing in breast surgery. Since 2007, I have been recognized as a Best Doctor in America and a Top Doctor.
Prior to joining Lancaster General Health, I practiced as a breast surgeon for the Geisinger Clinic, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Sentara Healthcare (in Virginia), serving as a physician leader and administrator at the latter two organizations.
While at Lehigh Valley Health Network I developed and enjoyed serving as the director of the breast surgical oncology fellowship program. During my years in practice, I have enjoyed teaching medical students and training residents through clinical teaching appointments at Sidney Kimmel Medical College—Thomas Jefferson University, Penn State College of Medicine, University of South Florida School of Medicine, and Eastern Virginia Medical School. I currently hold an appointment with the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
During my career, I have been afforded many opportunities to collaborate with others in order to improve our understanding of breast cancer, optimize our treatments, assure appropriateness of care and educate colleagues. My research interests have involved sentinel lymph node biopsy, accelerated partial breast irradiation, and cryoablation for breast cancer. I have been a co-author of more than two dozen papers, book chapters, and abstracts and I have been asked to speak and present data at the annual meetings of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Commission on Cancer, and the American College of Surgeons. I perform site visits/surveys for cancer and breast cancer program accreditation for the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
I received my MBA from the Isenberg School of Management of the University of Massachusetts. This education provided me with insights that support my passion to provide excellent quality care while reducing low value care and the total cost of care for my patients.
