    Our Policies

    Opioid Use

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health promotes a non-narcotic policy for our headache care program. This is in keeping with the Center for Disease Control and the American Academy of Neurology guidelines recommending strongly against the use of narcotics for chronic non-cancer pain. In fact, science shows that any regular use of narcotics more than doubles your risk for developing chronic daily headaches. For these reasons, our headache care program does not accept any individual who is currently taking narcotics and will not prescribe narcotics for management of headaches.

    Disability and Related Forms

It is important for our neurologists to focus on direct patient care. Thus, they are not able to complete disability or Family Medical Leave Act paperwork. We will work with your primary care provider and share all of your medical records as requested.
